SHOUTING with all the joy embodied in my soul, that yesterday it was announced that I am the 2021 Whitney M. Young Jr. Award Recipient which comes with an elevation to the AIA College of Fellows. I am honored, humbled, and excited to share!

Named for civil rights leader Whitney M. Young Jr., this award distinguishes an architect or architectural organization that embodies social responsibility and actively addresses a relevant issue, such as affordable housing, inclusiveness, or universal access.

Whitney m. young jr.'s 1968 aia convention speech inspired changes for a more diverse profession.

My sincere thank you to you, the community that prays for me, supports me, uplifts me, and protects me. I could not have accomplish this prestigious accolade without you. It is not lost on me that I received one of architecture's highest honors for making space and creating a platform to elevate and celebrate others!

Acknowledging that I am one of the youngest architects to receive this award is humbling. It also amplifies my sense of responsibility to maintain my determination, drive, and relentless pursuit of justice in our profession and world.

The most amazing Nomination Letter, by William J. Stanley III.

I applied for this award to validate my advocacy efforts, to help get the support I need to continue to move the mission forward and elevate more women and BIPOC designers and testify to their added value to society and our built environment.

Therefore if you are receiving this message and have not yet submitted to a SAY IT LOUD Exhibition, I ask that you take this opportunity as we close out this year to celebrate your greatness. I'll take what you share and SAY IT LOUD!
