I am excited to share a significant contribution to our architectural community with the upcoming release of my book, GREATNESS: Diverse Designers of Architecture. This publication, a culmination of advocacy and dedication since 2017, celebrates the work and identities of 47 contemporary, diverse designers through 40 impactful projects. Each featured designer brings a unique perspective and narrative, highlighting the richness and diversity of talent within our field today.

During its development, I encountered numerous challenges, including publishers who failed to recognize the importance of elevating the work and identity of women and BIPOC designers. Despite these setbacks, I am proud to have found a fantastic partner in Oro Editions. They not only shared my vision but also ensured that the production team—from copy editors to designers—reflected the diversity we celebrate in this book.

GREATNESS is not just about the final product but also the inclusive process behind it. The book is meticulously curated from the 48 SAY IT LOUD Exhibitions we've held to date, showcasing over 1,130 diverse designers. It is organized into four typologies—Cultural, Institutional, Residential, and Urban Planning. Each section begins with an essay I have written, incorporating insights from industry giants like Bryan C. Lee Jr., Dr. Kwesi Daniels, Maurice Cox, R. Steve Lewis, and Tya Winn. These essays discuss the historical context of each typology, its past misuses, and the healing potential of thoughtful architecture and design. The chapters feature 10 projects each, with in-depth features on 2 projects, ultimately highlighting 47 diverse talents in our field.
