I’m excited to share that GREATNESS: Diverse Designers of Architecture has been awarded Gold in Design for Social Impact by PRINT Magazine.
Now in its 45th year, the PRINT Awards honor design work that translates vision into tangible, real-world impact, recognizing projects that demonstrate craft, longevity, originality, and innovation. To have GREATNESS acknowledged within this global framework is deeply meaningful, especially given PRINT’s legacy of documenting where design has been, where it is now, and where it’s headed.

This recognition affirms something I have long believed: that documenting overlooked histories is not supplementary to design, it is design. GREATNESS was created to correct omission, to expand authorship, and to place women and designers of color firmly within the architectural canon. The book is not aspirational; it is archival. It insists that our contributions are not emerging, they are established, influential, and enduring.

Receiving Gold for Design for Social Impact underscores the importance of authorship as an act of justice. At a moment when access to history, education, and truth feels increasingly fragile, this award reinforces why preserving and publishing our stories on our own terms matters. Design has power not only to shape space, but to shape memory, visibility, and belonging.
One year after its publication, GREATNESS continues to travel, into classrooms, libraries, institutions, and now into the global design record. That continuity is the work.

I am grateful to PRINT Magazine and the global jury for recognizing the impact of this project, and to every designer, reader, educator, and student who has carried this book forward. If you are receiving this email, it’s because you are part of that journey. Your belief sustains this work, and I carry it with me into every room I enter.

This moment is not about arrival, it’s about responsibility. It reflects why I created SAY IT LOUD, why I remain committed to authorship and access, and why preserving our histories is essential to shaping a more just future.
If you’re receiving this email, it’s because you are part of my journey. Your support sustains me. I carry you into every room I enter, and I hope to continue making you proud.
