I’m excited to share that on August 24th, I had the honor of joining Blueprints & Brushstrokes, presented by DCNOMA and hosted at Sycamore & Oak in Washington, D.C.—a building designed by Adjaye Associates that has already become a civic anchor and community hub.
This event celebrated the intersections of design, art, and advocacy, transforming the space into a gallery of storytelling and creativity. Installations, artwork, and dialogue came together to highlight the brilliance of diverse designers while reminding us that architecture is at its best when it reflects and serves community.

I’m deeply grateful to Telicious Robinson and the DCNOMA team for including me in this celebration. Not only was Adjaye Associates represented on one of the boards, but I was also able to sign copies of my book GREATNESS: Diverse Designers of Architecture—and thanks to the extraordinary support of those who came out, we sold out. Moments like this remind me that GREATNESS is not just a book, but a movement carried by all of us.

What made the evening even more meaningful was being able to share it with my son. Watching him enjoy the space and the playground filled me with joy and underscored what advocacy is really about: building environments where we all belong, and where the next generation can thrive.

Thank you to everyone who came, created, and celebrated. This was more than an event—it was proof of what’s possible when design is rooted in equity, culture, and care.

If you’re receiving this email, it’s because you are part of my journey. Your support sustains me. I carry you into every room I enter, and I hope to continue making you proud.
