I’m excited to share that on June 10th, I was honored to attend the 2025 BET Awards—proud to be in a space where Black excellence wasn’t just recognized, it was centered, celebrated, and amplified.

As I met talented creatives like Briana Price of the new Tyler Perry series Divorced Sisters, I felt a deep sense of mutual respect. These weren’t just celebrity encounters—they were moments of connection, of being seen and affirmed as part of the same cultural fabric.

The red carpet, often portrayed as a place of intimidation or performance, surprised me with its warmth. I shared smiles with Tyler James Williams of Abbott Elementary and Da'Vinchi from All American, spent time with old friends, and made new ones. In a space that could’ve felt exclusive or unwelcoming, I found grace, kindness, and real community.

Attending the BET Awards shifted something in me. For so long, I’ve poured energy into building platforms where others could feel seen—but in that moment, I realized I was also building a world where I belong. This wasn’t just a celebration I was invited to—it was a space that reflected the very values I fight for: joy, legacy, creativity, and cultural pride.

I witnessed legends take the stage. I sang (apologies to everyone around me), I danced, and I experienced the kind of joy that comes from being in a room filled with brilliance, pride, and purpose. I was reminded of what it feels like to be surrounded by people who dream boldly and move with intention.

Congratulations to the entire BET team for putting together such an unforgettable celebration of our community’s creativity, resilience, and impact. I was in a space of greatness—and I felt like I truly belonged there.
