Question: Can we use Architecture to combat racism and oppression? ABSOLUTELY!
Bryan C. Lee Jr. founder of Colloqate has funneled his passionate and brilliance to answering those questions thoughtfully and with action.
I had the honor of being part of the planning committee with Jason Pugh, Venesa Alicea, Angela King under the leadership of Bryan C. Lee Jr and planned a 3 day summit Design Justice Summit in New Orleans sponsored by AIA National.
The 3 day Summit selected 24 social impact architects and designers from across the country to share knowledge and develop creative solutions that address the intransigent issues of injustice facing communities throughout the world.
Our mission is to codify and grow a diverse community of public interest design leaders with the capacity to shape the future of the profession towards equity.
Together with 5 brilliant experts, Rosa Sheng, Kofi Boone, Justin Garret Moore, Katherine Darnstadt, and Theresa Hwang, we shared our stories, was vulnerable about our concerns, and generous with our support. It was an incredible experience and my advocate architect family just got a lot bigger.
There are amazing architects, designers and planners around the world, ensuring justice in our built environment!
Please know your support means everything to me. You are a part of my community and someone I aspire to make proud.
